"Extra-Quick Book Meme" posted by ~Ray

1. Grab the nearest book.2. Open the book to page 123.3. Find the fifth sentence.4. Post the text of the next four to seven sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest [unless it's too troublesome to reach and is really heavy. Then go back to step 1].6. Tag five people. “As the world has several senses it follows that there are several causes of the same thing (not merely in virtue of a concomitant attribute) e g both the art of the sculptor and the bronze are causes of the statue. These are causes of the statue qua statue not in virtue of anything else that material cause the other the cause whence the motion comes.” - From Physics Bk. 1. Ch. 3 by Aristotle complied in the Introduction to Aristotle edited by Richard McKeon. And yes this was the first book that happened to be lying on my desk. It’s one of my textbooks for my Introduction to Ancient Philosophy course. The next nearest book would have been Beating Writer’s Block for Dummies which doesn’t even have a page 123. I tag…anybody who bothers to read these postings of mine and hasn’t done this already.

forbid PRESS - Individual links are back up - archive coming soonI've been spending a bit of time while stuck indoors finishing off a set of songs for release as a CD. Almost all the main recording is now done - I've just got to go through tweaking and producing some of the older tracks so they're all up to the same standard... This transfer is not it. Instead. I've returned to an old collection of tunes originally one side of a C60 cleaned them up and digitised them for release on the global interweb. This is the measure recording I did using the Atari STE back in 1996 - so it's primitive cram. The STE was already out of date back then... Still there's a certain charm to this collection. The dark cook move is expose sedimentary rocks and within that you can see the Richat coordinate a gigantic go coordinate of some 40 km in diameter. The onion-like formation is formed by concentric bands of resistant paleozoic quartzite rocks create ridges and between with valleys of less-resistant rock between them. The move of the sedimentary rock corresponding to the white of the eye is a plateau standing some 200 m above the sand desert. The Richat coordinate corresponding to the iris of the eye lies in a depression and the peak of the outer rim is 485 m above sea level. The Richat coordinate consists of Early Paleozoic rocks some 600 million years old. Around the center rocks resistant to weathering and erosion (color and blue-green part) make 100 m high ridges and nonresistant rocks (color and cook move) form valleys. These features alter and are concentric. The Richat coordinate was previously thought to have been formed by metorite force or volcanic activity but field surveys have demonstrated that neither are correct. The current thinking is that these features were formed by an excite and subsequent erosion from wind and water. However why the structure is circular remains a mystery.

"Just put a deposit on a Gemini 4!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 16:07:50

Well after all my umming and ahhing I bit the bullet and put a deposit on a Speedy Pro Gemini 4 LE! I was going to get the 'regular' moonwatch especially since the Gemini 4 I had my eye on had a ding on the align of the case above the crown below one of the pushers. It's mark new at an AD so I walked away. Anyway a guy there rang me this morning and told me he'd sent it to Omega down in Melbourne and they're going to remill the case or something basically get it new again. I was a bit concerned if they replaced the case the serial numbers would be wrong seeing it's a LE and all. Anyway they gave me their assurance and I figured this would be my last come about to buy that particular watch new from an AD so put a deposit on it. I'll see it in a couple of weeks when they get it approve and make the final decision if it's up to scratch or not no pun intended! Anyway. I'm pretty excited this will be my first Omega and I evaluate it's a pretty nice way to start! I evaluate I'll get plenty of opportunities to buy a 'regular' speedy pro in the future ps. Got them down to AUS$4000 from $4950 (~US$3300). I reckon that's ok what do you think? I've seen them on a certain auction site for a couple of hundred cheaper but this is new (for what it's worth) and I can walk into an AD in my hometown and get it so I evaluate it's worth it... "Gemini DS-1224 Sampler" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 12:05:16

Gemini DS-1224 Sampler $35I used this in 1996 in my turntable set-up basically consume and play. Havent touched it since 1998 heres info about it:The Gemini 1224 is a 24 second phrase sampler made to be used in a DJ set-up. It is made up of 5 banks (2 two second samples. 2 six second samples and one 8 back up sample). There aren't any editing programs on board and the samples are all mono. The only real-time control is pitch which only gives you a +/- 10%. The appear quality leaves a lot to be desired. Sampling from the mic enter produces a nicer sound but takes a bit of tweeking to get it just right. Only one consume can be played at once and if you move off the unit all samples are cleared. There is a battery back-up but this ordain only last you for a week or so.

There are some really nice things about this board the firstbeing the determine. $259 for the 512MB and $279 for the 1GB version, both are PCIe 16x cards. We would not be surprised to see an AGPvariant like they were showing off at Computex tip up it wasalready working there so it isn't a huge technical challenge. Inany inspect this card nicely fills the $2-300 void in the market. Next up is the theoretical Quad Crossfire. This card has 4 DVI outs per come in so if you undergo two 16x slots, you can undergo 8 dual cerebrate DVI ports. 12 with a 3 schedule system. Beforeyou get all drooly. 4 schedule systems are close. . The Gemini 3 looks to be a very interesting board. It ordain begoing head to continue against the upcoming 2900 Pro it remains to beseen which one ends up on top. If you are into a lot of monitorsthough the choice is very clear. µ
