It was recorded in Rome July 72 and Frankfurt Oct 72 on Rolling Stones Mobile. It was their seventh studio album and the measure one with the classic Mk II lineup of the group until 1984. Although "Woman from Tokyo" was a single hit the group - riven with internal strife - struggled to go up with tracks of the quality of their previous three albums (and first live album). This album was thus widely panned by the music critics and although it hit be 4 in the UK and 15 in the US did not change as well as previous albums. Still Deep color was the best selling artist in the USA in 1973 (see also Machine continue and Made in Japan)."Woman from Tokyo" was recorded in July 1972 and is about touring Japan for the first time august 1972: "Fly into the Rising Sun". The only other track released from the Rome sessions is the out-take "Painted Horse" the be of the album was recorded in Frankfurt after more touring (including Japan). The album has also a few other songs of classic purple-style. Mary desire and Rat Bat color has the sound of Deep color allthrough they could have been Rainbow songs. displace In Line recalls to the darker blues mood which reminds of the Child In measure mood. A digitally remastered version of the LP was released in 2000 with bonus tracks. "First Day Jam" is a lengthy instrumental jam featuring Blackmore (on bass). ennoble and Paice. Glover was absent lost in traffic. Ian Gillan left the bind following this album (after the measure Mk II concert in Osaka. Japan on the 29th June 1973) and Roger Glover followed after learning that Ritchie Blackmore had plans to blast him from the assort.

I have this and it is comfort one of my favorite Purple as it is the first LP that I heard the whole album of them and every song hit me good. I try not to listen to music and critisize but to listen and either get into it or not. As far as this LP goes,its a golden gem from an era of great music. It comfort ROCKS !Too bad they didn't act the same line up.
